BREVARD COUNTY, VIERA • FLORIDA – The 2015 Doctors’ Goodwill Foundation “Healthy Day At The Ball Park” was a big success as the event combined education, healthy living and fun – resulting in many happy faces at Space Coast Stadium in Viera.
“This was a home run in more ways than one,” said Dr. Kanti Bhalani, founder of the Doctors’ Goodwill Foundation.
“We want to thank the Brevard County Manatees and Space Coast Daily for partnering with us to bring this super event to benefit our community’s health.”
MEDICAL SPELLING BEE
The day featured a special medical spelling bee that featured talented students from all across Brevard.
In the 5-6th grade age category, first place went to Krishna Tewatia, second place went to Ayush Maddikonda and third place went to Vahaan Puskur.
In the 7-8th grade category, first place went to Jordyn Vu, second place went to Elijah Keila and third place went to Jennifer O-Gabaira. All winners received cash, a trophy and a special certificate.
“We could not have done this without the incredible support from our sponsors, our corporate exhibitors and our amazing volunteers,” said Dr. Ashish Udeshi, President of the Doctors’ Goodwill Foundation, and a specialist with Florida Pain Institute.
“We are very proud of what we have accomplished here as we have raised almost $100,000 towards our charitable causes.”
FEATURED MORE THAN 70 EXHIBITORS
The event also included a free health fair with more than 70 exhibitors, offering a wide variety of health related goods and services. Many local medical practitioners provided free health screenings and consultations.
Local expert physicians provided free healthy living lectures inside the stadium’s Manatee Room for the public to enjoy.
Dr. Louis Joseph, a psychiatrist from Parrish Medical Center, offered a compelling talk about Mental Health and took questions from the audience after his presentation.
“There are several local programs that offer assistance, like Circles of Care, and people can also contact us at Parrish Medical Center for advice,” said Dr. Joseph.
More than 125 medical professionals also attended the free continuing medical education (CME) courses that were offered.
“This was one of the best heath fairs that I have been to in the area,” said Mary Klein of Suntree.
“It’s so nice to come out to the stadium, listen to the best docs and stroll through the exhibitors stands. Seeing the ball game is great fun too. I’m really looking forward to the fireworks.”
The enthusiastic crowd in the stands cheered on Brevard’s professional baseball team, the Manatees, as they played a close game, narrowly losing to the Dunedin Blue Jays. The post-game fireworks were spectacular and a perfect end to a great healthy living day at Space Coast Stadium.
“This has been a great day and it’s wonderful to see all the folks having such a fun time here at the stadium,” said Tim Cerullo, while enjoying the festivities from the Doctors’ Goodwill Foundation hospitality suite.
