BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Eastern Florida women’s basketball coach Jim Grimes had added size and strength to his lineup for the 2015-16 season.
Grimes has announced the signing of 5-foot, 11-inch forward Kienya Jones of Niles North High School in Skokie, Illinois.
Jones averaged 18 points, 9.5 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game as a senior, earning second-team All-State and Conference Player of the Year honors.
For her career Jones scored 1,208 points, was team MVP in 2014 and 2015 and All-Conference in 2014 and 2015.
“Kienya is an extremely talented player and we feel very fortunate that we were able to sign her,” Grimes said.
“She is very strong and versatile and we expect that she will come in and contribute right away in the post. I know that Coach (Dan) Paxson from Niles North has prepared her well for this level, and I know that she is going to flourish in our program.”
Jones joins Covenant Christian School graduate and St. Thomas University transfer Emma Grimes of Palm Bay, Cocoa High graduate Dysheka Price, Pinellas County Palm Harbor University High School product Chardonay Aldrich, Port St. Lucie Treasure Coast High’s Evelyn Sagner and St. Petersburg’s Zoi Thompson of Northeast High as Titans signees.
