A 75-year-old Melbourne man died Wednesday morning when he suffered a medical episode and left the roadway as he was traveling southbound on Elcon Drive, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

BREVARD COUNTY • WEST MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – A 75-year-old Melbourne man died Wednesday morning when he suffered a medical episode and left the roadway as he was traveling southbound on Elcon Drive, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The front of the man’s 2001 Nissan struck a mailbox, traveled across the road and came to a final rest on the shoulder.

The victim has not been identified pending notification of next of kin.

This crash remains under investigation, according to FHP.
