BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The District 22 Tournament continued with Indian River City LL’s Major baseball team meeting Rockledge LL. C. Christianson had a double for Rockledge while J. McGill hit a double for Indian River City.

Indian River City won the game 12-0 in 6 innings.

In the other Major baseball game, Merritt Island LL  and Mims LL had a back and forth battle which changed leads several times.

For Mims LL, M. Betchan hit a 3-run shot early in the game and H. Blake had a RBI triple in the 5th to score a go-ahead run. But it wasn’t enough as T. Goforth went 4-for-4 to lead Merritt Island to a 13-12 victory.

Tonight’s game between Merritt Island and Space Coast will determine the Major division champion.

Over in the Junior baseball game, Mims LL and Indian River City did battle. For Indian River City, J. Rink started off the scoring with a grand slam homer in the 1st inning and J. Smith added 2 doubles to help lead Indian River to a 12-4 win in 6 1/2 innings.

The win completed Indian River City’s undefeated record in the tournament and won them the Championship title in the Junior baseball division.

Senior baseball starts tomorrow at Port St. John’s Space Coast Communities Sports Complex where Port St. John’s senior team will meet North Merritt Island for a best 2-out-of-3 tournament.
