Jose Fernandez Scheduled To Pitch Against Manatees On Wednesday

BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA – The Miami Marlins have announced that starting pitcher Jose Fernandez will continue his rehab assignment with the Jupiter Hammerheads and is scheduled to start against the Brevard County Manatees on Wednesday, June 17.

 

Fernandez underwent “Tommy John” surgery on May 16, 2014.

Fernandez was drafted by the Marlins in the first round (14th overall) of the 2011 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of Braulio Alonso High School in Tampa.

He finished the 2013 season with a 12-6 record and posted a 2.19 ERA (42 ER/172.2 IP) in 28 starts. He was named the National League Rookie of the Year and represented the Marlins in the 2013 All-Star Game.

Fernandez finished third in NL Cy Young voting.

First pitch for Wednesday’s game is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. Gates will open at 5:30 p.m.

Tickets for Wednesday’s game can be purchased in the following ways:

• In person at the Space Coast Stadium box office. The box office is located below the main entrance of the stadium. The box office will open at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

• By calling 321-633-9200. Phone orders will be taken from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday.

• By going to ManateesBaseball.com. Please note that online tickets sales will end at 12:00 p.m.

All seating at Space Coast Stadium for Manatees’ games is assigned seating and ranges from $6 to $10.
