Move over, Avengers—there’s a new hero in town, and he’s a very different kind of super soldier.
Jurassic World surpassed even the most optimistic predictions and shattered domestic box office records with $208.8 million during its opening weekend, Universal has confirmed.
That number pushes it past the $207.4 million record previously set by Joss Whedon’s superhero blockbuster, which has held the mantle of highest overall movie opening since 2012.
The action-adventure, starring Chris Pratt and a gaggle of CG dinosaurs, also set a new record with a $524.4 million haul globally.
