BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office will partner with Harris Corporation, Florida Institute of Technology, Space Coast Daily and C&R Designs as they host “Dancing For the Space Coast” on Saturday, June 6 at Florida Tech’s Clemente Center.

The event will pair local ballroom dancers with local “business celebrities” who will raise money while learning a ballroom dance that will be performed during a dance competition on the night of June 6.

Each dancer’s score will be a combination of how much money they raise, along with their dance routine score, to ultimately name the winner of the First Annual “Dancing For the Space Coast.”

Each year our agency will select three new charitable organizations to receive the benefits from the annual event: One charity that helps children, one that helps with crime prevention and awareness, and one that supports the Arts in Brevard County.

Dancing For the Space Coast will benefit the Brevard Public Safety Charity, who has earmarked the proceeds this year to be distributed to the Brevard Symphony Orchestra, the Scott Center For Autism and Serene Harbor.

The selected charities will each receive 90 percent of the profits, with the remaining 10 percent going to the Brevard County Public Safety Charity that helps support public safety members during a critical time of need.

This year our team has identified the Scott Center for Autism, Serene Harbor and the Brevard Symphony Orchestra as the three primary organizations who will receive the benefits of this year’s events.

We are excited to host this new event that will greatly benefit Brevard County not-for-profit organizations that are doing great things for our community.

This year, 11 participants have practiced for weeks and months across various dance studios in Brevard County. Some of whom, have never had dance lessons nor had to dance in front of hundreds of people.
