ORLANDO, FLORIDA (UCFKnights.com) – IMG College along with the UCF IMG Sports Network has announced former UCF offensive coordinator Charlie Taaffe will serve as color analyst for the Knights’ radio crew during the 2015 season.

After retiring from the coaching ranks following the 2014 season, Taaffe was a guest analyst in the booth for UCF’s spring game April 18, but will join the Voice of the Knights Marc Daniels full time this fall.

Daniels will enter his 21st season as the Black and Gold’s radio play-by-play caller in 2015. On the sidelines, Jerry O’Neill just finished his 20th season calling UCF action. Meanwhile, engineer Frank Lovre completed his 24th season a year ago.

“I’m very excited to be able to continue to be a part of UCF football. It’s been a major part of my life the last six years,” Taaffe said.

“I’m really looking forward to providing listeners with some insight on gamedays, and be a part of a talented radio crew in the booth.”

Fans will be able to hear the crew call UCF games on 740 AM The Game in Orlando as well as on UCFKnights.com and the TuneIn app.

“We are thrilled to have Charlie join us in the booth for the upcoming season,” Daniels said.

“He brings a very unique perspective based on his experience as a coach for many years and he certainly knows the team and players.”

Taaffe ventured to UCF in 2009 where he served as its offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach through the 2014 campaign. The offense improved its output for the first four seasons, going from 229.5 yards per game before he arrived all of the way to 441.5 yards per game in 2013.

The Knights won three conference titles, reached five bowls games and had a 55-24 record with Taaffe on staff.

Taaffe started his coaching career as Albany’s running backs coach in 1973, eventually making college stops on the assistant level at Georgia Tech, NC State, Virginia Army, Maryland and Pittsburgh.
