The District 22 Cocoa 9/10 Softball All-Stars advanced to the state tournament with two big wins on Saturday.

In the first game, the Cocoa All-Stars defeated Northwest Volusia County 3-2 in Game 1 of the Section 3 tournament.

Emily Thomas was the starting pitcher and got the win, while Avery Lawson hit an inside the park homerun to take the lead in the 5th inning.

In the second game of the day against Callahan Little league, Avery Lawson pitched a complete game, giving up just two hits in the game.

Both teams battled back and fourth, and after four scoreless innings,  Lauren Garvey started the rally in the 5th inning with a base hit, and Cocoa never looked back.

Trinity Choron drove in two runs as Cocoa adding two more in the inning. Cocoa went on to score two more in the bottom of 5th inning, eventually winning the game 6-1 over Callahan.

Cocoa will advance to the state tournament next week in Clearwater.
