Florida Gov. Rick Scott Approves $891,000 for Brevard County Arts, Cultural Community

16 Brevard organizations awarded funding
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – At the conclusion of this year’s special legislative session in Tallahassee, Florida Gov. Rick Scott approved $891,107 in new funding for the Brevard County arts and cultural sector.
Following last year’s generous funding from Tallahassee, the arts and cultural sector in Brevard County is on an upward swing.
The 2015-2016 budget reflects endorsement from our state legislature of the value of arts and creativity at the heart of our communities.
A total of 16 Brevard County cultural organizations were awarded funding from the State.
These funds will be utilized by a variety of local arts organizations, including the Brevard Cultural Alliance, Brevard Symphony Orchestra, East Coast Zoological Society of Florida, Inc., Brevard Schools Foundation, Eau Gallie District Main Street, the King Center and the Titusville Playhouse. Brevard Cultural Alliance was awarded an operating budget of $42,878.
This funding will enable the organization to continue to enhance Florida’s Space Coast as a cultural destination and support educational opportunities through engagement with the arts.
“We thank the legislators who helped us achieve this coming year’s funding,” said BCA Executive Director Neil Levine.
“By approving these awards, our elected leaders show support for the arts and cultural sector, which not only enhances our community’s quality of life, but also plays a valued role in tourism and is a significant economic engine for the Space Coast.”
