BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA –Merritt Island’s Marco Dawson won his first Major championship by winning the Senior Open Championship on Sunday in England.

Shooting an almost perfect back nine of 31 and a beautiful round of golf on the last day, Dawson defeated PGA legends Bernard Langer and Colin Montgomerie.

Marco finished with a -16 for the championship and shot a 64 on the final day. (See Final Results Below)

Dawson attended Florida Southern College, graduating in 1985, when he turned professional. Dawson has enjoyed a long career playing both the PGA and Web.com Tours.

He took up golf at age 9 after his family moved to Coral Springs, Fla., and lived adjacent to a course. In his spare time he enjoys listening to classical, world and instrumental music.

His most memorable shot he mentions, was hitting a left-handed 6-iron (upside down) from 120 yards to 10 feet from the pin.
