BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – The Titusville Police Explorers placed fifth overall in the Florida Association of Police Explorers State Competition held in June.

The Explorers selected to represent the Titusville Police Department were Lt. Joey Moyer, Sgt. Celestial McBride, Sgt. Brandon Hayner, Ptm. Sevan McBride, Ptm. Andrew Martin, Ptm. Wil Ware and Ptm. Collin Fritts.

The Explorers put in well over 300 hours of training during the six months prior to the competition to prepare for this highly competitive event.

Out of tens of thousands of Explorers around the state, 320 were selected to compete, representing 34 law enforcement and sheriff’s offices around the state.

The Explorers did very well, winning or placing high in the following categories:

1st Place: Crime Scene
3rd Place: Crisis Intervention
3rd Place: Active Shooter
3rd Place: In Progress
5th Place: Search and Arrest
5th Place: Overall

On top of their success in the competition, three of the members were selected to fill positions on the Youth Board including Celestial McBride, Vice President; Sevan McBride, Chaplain; and Brandon Hayner, Historian.

Out of all of the large departments there, Titusville has the most members on the board.

Additionally, TPD’s CST Caitlyn Hill was selected to be a judge for the competition, and did such an outstanding job she was asked to consider judging again next year.

This is just one of the many examples of excellence that come out of the this agency and one of the many reasons I am proud to be a member of the Titusville Police Department.

If you get an opportunity to see one of these fine young men and women around the office, please take a moment to congratulate them.

I would also like to take a moment to thank Scott Blizard, Jeff Hector, Brian Nelson, Marcelo Iglesias, Caitlyn Hill, Glen Hamann, Leamon Jackson and Mark Jennings for helping train these kids throughout this training cycle. Your wisdom and guidance is greatly appreciated.
