Phil Rosa, Tina Oram Honored
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Phil Rosa, a radiology nurse at Wuesthoff Medical Center – Rockledge and Tina Oram, patient care coordinator on the Med-Surg unit at Wuesthoff Medical Center – Melbourne were recently awarded the title of “Nurse of the Year” at their respective locations.
“Phil Rosa is very deserving of this title,” said Pam Carroll, Chief Nursing Officer at Wuesthoff Medical Center – Rockledge.
“He always goes above and beyond for his patients and makes them feel at ease with his sense of humor and warm demeanor. The staff and physicians also appreciate his work ethic and caring attitude – he truly epitomizes the definition of team player. He grew up in Indialantic so this is truly an award for someone who is caring for the community he has known for so long.”
Rosa, once a successful business owner, decided to pursue his dreams of nursing once his mom passed in 2007.
He received his associate degree in nursing from Brevard Community College (now Eastern Florida State College) and has been an employee at Wuesthoff since 2009.
ORAM WITH WUESTHOFF SINCE 2006
Oram graduated from Melbourne High School and has been an employee at Wuesthoff since 2006. She received her associates in nursing degree from Indian River Community College. Oram advanced to a patient care coordinator in 2009 and has excelled in her role.
“Tina exemplifies all of the qualities that make a wonderful nurse,” said Sudandra Ratnasamy, Chief Nursing Officer at Wuesthoff Medical Center – Rockledge-Melbourne.
“She is kind and compassionate to her patients while at the same time nurturing and supportive to her co-workers. She is respected by nurses and physicians alike. We are so proud that she received this honor.”
The “Nurse of the Year” award is a “peer nominated” award given out each year.
While several nominees were chosen from each location, Rosa and Oram stood out as the leaders to receive this prestigious recognition.
Qualifications taken into account when submitting nominations included:
• A nurse who exemplifies service excellence contributing to quality patient care.
• A nurse who you enjoy working with and is a team player sharing knowledge willingly and frequently.
• A nurse who goes beyond the call of duty to help meet needs of patients and their families.
• A nurse you would want to be your loved one’s nurse – someone with a positive attitude who understands the importance of their role and their individual impact to care.
“We are extremely proud of our Nurses of the Year and we pride ourselves on having the most caring, educated nurses at Wuesthoff Health System,” said said Tim Cerullo, Chief Executive Officer of Wuesthoff Health System.
