BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Brevard Public Schools congratulates Tara Taylor, of Pinewood Elementary as Principal of the Year, and Jennifer Brockwell, of Oak Park Elementary as Assistant Principal of the year for 2014 -15.

Ms. Taylor started her teaching career with BPS at Atlantis Elementary in 2002. She became an assistant principal at Port Malabar Elementary in 2006, and she was appointed principal at Pinewood Elementary in 2011.

Since becoming principal, Ms. Taylor has lead the school to high levels of achievement with the philosophy of “reach every child, every day.”

Additionally, as a leader, she strives to reach every teacher, every day, as she recognizes the impact of her work with teachers on the children they serve. In her nomination award, Ms. Taylor was attributed to creating “a school climate that is congenial, professional and focused on professional learning communities.”

In addition to representing BPS at the state level competition for Florida’s Principal of the Year, Tara will also represent the school district for a second consecutive year in the Florida Commissioner’s Leadership Academy, serving this year as a facilitator for principals joining this group for the first time.

Jennifer Brockwell, a first-year principal at Oak Park Elementary, was nominated as this year’s Assistant Principal of the Year. Jennifer started her career with BPS as a teacher at Challenger 7 Elementary.

Jennifer became the assistant principal at Challenger 7 in 2011, and she was recently promoted to the position of principal at Oak Park. Ms. Brockwell has continued to grow in instructional leadership, holding herself and others to standards of excellence.
