BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE FLORIDA – Florida Institute of Technology alumna Ann E. Dunwoody, the first female four-star general in U.S. Army history, will be on campus Wednesday, Sept. 2, to speak about her new book, A Higher Standard.

The evening, featuring a cocktail reception with cash bar, roasted beef tenderloin dinner and keynote address from Dunwoody, starts at 6:15 p.m. at the Hartley Room in the Denius Student Center on Florida Tech’s Melbourne campus. Dinner begins at 7 p.m.

A 1988 graduate from Florida Tech’s Fort Lee site, where she earned a master’s degree in logistics management, Dunwoody was named the 2014 Jerome P. Keuper Distinguished Alumni Award winner at the university’s homecoming gala last year.

She returns to Melbourne as author of A Higher Standard, a book published in April that details the now-retired Dunwoody’s progress through her distinguished, 38-year military career and distills the leadership principles that propelled her to numerous firsts, from being the first female four-star general to being the first woman to command a battalion in the 82nd Airborne Division and the first woman to command the Combined Arms Support Command.
