NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The remnant trough of former Tropical Storm Erika will push into the Gulf of Mexico today.

In its wake, deep tropical moisture will be drawn across the Florida peninsula…bringing widespread showers and scattered thunderstorms.

Heavy rain is expected with 2 to 3 inches area-wide, with local amounts between 3 and 5 inches.

Gusty winds around 40 mph may occur in some squalls.
