BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The inaugural Doug Flutie Orlando Golf Tournament at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club Orlando, Grande Lakes is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 28. Proceeds benefit the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism and the Scott Center for Autism Treatment at Florida Institute of Technology.

Entry is $1,000 per foursome or $300 per person and includes lunch, prize competition and an informal awards dinner after the tournament.

Registration starts at 9 a.m. and the shotgun start is at 10 a.m. at the Greg Norman-designed course, 4012 Central Florida Parkway in Orlando.

Doug Flutie Jr., the 23-year-old son of Doug and Laurie Flutie, was diagnosed with autism at age 3. In 1998, in honor of their son, the Fluties established their foundation, which like the Scott Center strives to improve the quality of life for people and families living with autism.

The Flutie Foundation distributes over $600,000 each year to nonprofit partners and families in need.

“We are excited to bring together sponsors and friends for another great day on the links to raise awareness and funds that will directly impact families living with autism in Central Florida,” Doug Flutie said.

Autism impacts more than 48,000 families in Orange, Seminole, Osceola, Brevard, Volusia and Lake counties, or about one in 68 children. The money raised at the tournament will directly help families living in Central Florida who may be struggling to get the treatment their children need.
