BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA — Stock-up and save big on all of the latest back-to-school trends, supplies and must-haves at Melbourne Square, located in the heart of Brevard County.

The family friendly shopping destination will host a variety of events including a back-to-school expo, a Simon Kidgits Club event and more designed to coincide with Florida’s Tax-free Holiday, running August 7 – 16.

According to the National Retail Federation, back-to-school is the second-largest shopping season of the year following the winter holidays.

This year, the average family with children in grades K-12 is expected to spend an average of $630 on electronics, apparel and other school needs.

Total spending for K-12 and college is expected to reach $68 billion.

The savings begin on Friday, August 7, with Florida’s Tax-free Holiday. Items that will be tax-free include clothing, footwear, wallets, and bags that costs $100 or less, school supplies that cost $15 or less, and the first $750 of the cost of personal computers and related accessories.

On Saturday, August 8, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., visit the Kid & Parent Back-to-school Expo and enjoy free face painting, balloon artists, airbrushing, children’s crafts and prize giveaways including an iPad with Strawberry the Clown.

Families can join the Simon Kidgits Club for an annual fee of $5 per child. Each new Kidgits member gets to spin the prize wheel, will receive a special birthday gift plus can enjoy extra goodies, coupons and discounts throughout the year.
