Pedestrian Killed Saturday Night On State Road 520 At Milford Point Drive

A 47-year old Palm Bay woman was killed Sunday at about 2:30 p.m. at Malabar Road and Glatter Road in Malabar, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
An unidentified pedestrian was killed Saturday night at 11:38 p.m. on State Road 520 at Milford Point Drive.

BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – An unidentified pedestrian was killed Saturday night at 11:38 p.m. on State Road 520 at Milford Point Drive on Merritt Island.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Van Summers, 69, of Ponte Vedra Beach was traveling westbound in a 2001 Toyota SUV on State Road 520 in the center lane, approaching the green light at Milford Point Drive.

The pedestrian was crossing State Road 520 from south to north and traveled into the path of Summers, according to FHP.

The left front of the Toyota SUV struck the pedestrian and then stopped partially in the center and right lane of westbound State Road 520. The pedestrian came to a final rest in the center lane and was taken to Cape Canaveral Hospital.

The identity of the victim has not been released pending notification of next-of-kin.
