Three Former Florida Tech Panthers Poised For Run At World Rowing Championships

Three former Florida Tech Panthers – Taylor Brown ’09, Jose Gomez-Feria ’15 and Chris Lambert ’08 – will represent their respective country at the World Rowing Championships over the next few days. (FIT Image)

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Three former Florida Tech Panthers – Taylor Brown ’09, Jose Gomez-Feria ’15 and Chris Lambert ’08 – will represent their respective country at the World Rowing Championships over the next few days.

Brown and Lambert will both row for USA. Brown will occupy the stroke seat in heat two of the men’s coxed pair on Monday at 4:30 a.m. ET/10:30 a.m. local time.

They will race Serbia, Germany and South Africa with the winner advancing to the ‘A’ Final and the remaining crews from each heat moving to the repechage.

Lambert will race for USA in the three seat of the men’s lightweight eight against France, Germany, Italy and Turkey.

The crews will first race in an exhibition on Tuesday at 4:25 a.m. ET/10:25 a.m. local time. They will then line up next in the final on Friday at 7:35 a.m. ET/1:35 p.m. local time.

Gomez-Feria, who helped FIT’s varsity eight finish 14th in the country at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships in May, will stroke Spain’s lightweight men’s pair in the event’s first heat on Monday at 4:10 a.m. ET/10:10 a.m. local time. The pair will race USA, Ireland, Italy and Armenia.

The winner of each heat will progress to the ‘A’ Final, while the remaining crews will compete in the repechage.
