ORLANDO, FLORIDA (UCFKnights.com) – The 10th day of preseason camp was held inside Nicholson Fieldhouse for the second straight afternoon.

UCFKnights.com got a quick breakdown of the defensive line from assistant coach Lorenzo Costantini. Hear what he had to say in the video above.

Junior linebacker Mark Rucker, meanwhile, has faced the UCF offense for just over a week in camp, and has had his eyes on a pair of newcomers.

“I like Taj McGowan at running back. He’s hitting the holes really hard. He’s showing that he’s physical,” Rucker said.

“And I like Tyler Hudanick, a freshman O-lineman who is very physical. I go at him in the trenches every day and he gives me a headache sometimes.”

Conversely, junior tight end Michael Campbell has a couple of defenders he loves playing against.

“I think we’ve got a really good defense, and there are a couple of guys over there who stand out,” Campbell said.

“I block Thomas Niles 1-on-1 with him and it’s very difficult and challenging. A linebacker I block a lot is Domenic Spencer. He’s very hard-headed and quick on his feet. He’s a very good linebacker.”

As for Friday’s practice, contact was limited as the Knights worked primarily on polishing up some installation. But when the offense and defense did face off, redshirt freshman safety Tre Neal along with junior linebacker Demeitre Brim had a couple of big plays including interceptions.

While junior quarterback Justin Holman continued to build a strong bond with sophomore wideout Jordan Akins and redshirt freshman Tre’Quan Smith, the best catch went to junior Nick Patti.

Holman sent a high pass Patti’s way, and he quickly rose up for the reception even though he got hit from behind before falling to the ground.

Practice came to a close when freshman kicker Donald Delahaye drilled a 51-yard field goal.

Preseason camp resumes on Saturday with practice No. 11
