ORLANDO, FLORIDA – Monday featured another day of avoiding the summer rains with UCF working on its sixth day of 2015 preseason camp.
It also was a day to feature the defense in slow motion. Make sure to view the video above for a close-up look, and if you missed the offense from Aug. 8.
In full pads for the second day of camp, UCF went right to work early with 3rd-and-short situations, with the defense winning a good portion of the battles. Defensive coordinator Chuck Bresnahan celebrated the most when redshirt freshman cornerback Kyle Gibson earned a big stop at the line. Sophomore defensive back Jordan Franks and senior defensive lineman Thomas Niles also provided tackles for loss.
Toward the end of practice, the Knights held a segmented scrimmage and this time it was the offense who took over.
Junior quarterback Justin Holman found sophomore wide receiver Jordan Akins on a long touchdown throw, while freshman wideout Cam Stewart hauled in touchdown passes from redshirt freshman Tyler Harris and true freshman Bo Schneider.
Redshirt freshman running back C.J. Jones and true freshman back Taj McGowan looked strong in the backfield, highlighted by a 35-yard touchdown run from McGowan.
The first full week of preseason camp concludes today.
