ORLANDO, FLORIDA (UCFKnights.com) – UCF completed its second full week of preseason camp Tuesday with the 14th practice of the month.
The coaching staff moved Tuesday’s practice to the morning where it continued to work on plays in the red zone as well as drills that reinforces moving the feet when tackling.
During Tuesday’s session, the defense posted several big plays, highlighted by defensive tackle Jamiyus Pittmanpressuring quarterbacks throughout the morning.
One of those pressures enabled linebacker Mark Rucker to haul in a diving interception. Defensive linemen Thomas Niles and Tony Guerad also looked strong against the offense, while cornerback Shaquill Griffin posted a key break-up in the secondary.
When the offense found a rhythm, quarterbacks Justin Holman and Tyler Harris each threw touchdown passes, and Holman connected with wideout Nick Patti for a long gain.
Preseason camp is quickly coming to a close. Practice No. 15 is set for Wednesday.
On Friday, practice will be open to the public, and it runs from 3:20-5:30 p.m. (may start and end a few minutes early). Phones and cameras will not be permitted.
