BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Eastern Florida’s volleyball team begins a make-or-break week on Tuesday hosting Florida College System Activities Association Southern Conference foe Miami Dade College.

The match is at 6 p.m. in the Titan Field House on the Melbourne Campus. Admission is free.

Tuesday’s match will be followed by conference visits to Palm Beach State at 6 p.m. Thursday in Lake Worth and Broward College at 7 p.m. Friday in Davie.

Eastern Florida is 0-1 in the conference. Miami Dade is 1-0, Indian River State 2-0, Palm Beach 1-1 and Broward 0-2.

The five conference teams play each other four times each to determine the top two finishers who advance to the NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Tournament. Eastern Florida finished 4-4 and in third place in conference last season.

“The importance of this week needs no introduction,” said Eastern Florida head coach Andrea Rasmussen whose team is 6-9 overall.

“We’ve got to keep pace in the conference and we can do that by sticking to our game plan. If we do that the results will come. This team has the talent to compete in conference and the time has come.”

The Titans split four matches in a weekend tournament at South Florida State College in Avon Park, rebounding from a 3-0 conference-opening loss at home to Indian River.

“We had our first taste of conference competition this season and we learned from it,” Rasmussen said. “Now we need to apply those lessons.”
