WEST SHORE vs. EDGEWOOD LIVE BASKETBALL ACTION

BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – The Friday Night Locker Room, known primarily for covering high school sports in central Florida, will branch out this week by broadcasting a pair of middle school basketball games, thanks to the proliferation of the digital world.

Orville Susong and Steve Wilson will provide play-by-play coverage as the West Shore Wildcats travel to Edgewood Jr./Sr. High to take on the Indians in a boys and girls doubleheader.

The games will be played on Monday, September 28, starting at 5 p.m.

The Friday Night Locker Room broadcast crew will select a Player of the Game from each team, both girls and boys games.

Sitting in with Susong and Wilson will be Florida Tech head basketball coach Billy Mims to provide commentary and insight to the action.

Wilson praised the efforts of Space Coast Daily in making this happen.

Broadcasting a middle school basketball game would not have been possible just a few short years ago.

“The partnership we are enjoying with Space Coast Daily has taken Friday Night Locker Room to another level,” said Wilson.

“We are able to reach more listeners and cover more youth sports than ever before. And that has always been our goal, to promote youth sports in central Florida.”

With the advent of technology, in particular, online streaming, FNLR is ready to move into the next phase of their broadcasting.

“To be able to promote youth sports at this level will be special, making this one of the more exciting events we have ever done in our 17-year history,” said Susong.

“We are used to dealing with high school students and now we’ll be able to turn our focus to include seventh and eighth graders, as well. That’s going to be pretty neat.”

The girls will tip-off at 5 p.m. and the boys game will start immediately after the conclusion of the girls game. Both games can be heard on SpaceCoastDaily.com with the pre-game show starting at 4:45 p.m.
