Melbourne Police Arrest Man For DUI, Damage On Vehicle Prompts Investigation

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Melbourne Police Department arrested 39-year-old William Alicea of Melbourne for DUI Tuesday morning near U.S. 1 and Magnolia Drive in Melbourne.

Officer Justin Valutsky was on patrol Tuesday morning when he noticed the car pictured driving erratically.

According to the Melbourne Police Department spokesperson, the officer noticed the front tire was flat and damage on the side of the vehicle. Officer Valutsky noticed all the air bags in the car were deployed and immediately conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle.

According to the spokesperson, the suspect was found to possibly be under the influence and involved in a traffic crash. Alicea was arrested as officers conducted a search of his suspected course of travel searching for what he had hit.

Officers could not find anything that clearly depicted a crash occurred.

The Melbourne Police Department is asking for the public’s help. If you suspect you have damage to your property consistent with the pictures, call the Melbourne Police Department at 321-608-6731.

The suspect was charged with DUI and this was his second arrest for DUI in less than a month.
