TALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA (Seminoles.com) – Florida State’s Terrance Smith and Jalen Ramsey were named Players of the Week by the Atlantic Coast Conference after leading the Seminoles to a 14-0 victory at Boston College in the league opener for both schools this past Friday.

Smith and Ramsey paced a Seminole defense that held the Eagles under 200 yards of total offense en route to FSU’s first road shutout since 2003. Florida State forced four three and outs in the game, while only two of BC’s 12 possessions entered Seminole territory.

The closest Boston College got to the end zone was reaching the Florida State 39-yard line.

It marks the third time in their careers that both Smith and Ramsey have been named ACC Players of the Week.

LINEBACKER:
Terrance Smith, Florida State, R-Sr., LB, 6-4, 230, Decatur, Ga.
Smith had six tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and forced a fumble in the fourth quarter on the game’s biggest play. Smith forced the ball free from BC’s Jon Hilliman and Ramsey was there for the scoop and score to give the Seminoles breathing room in what had been a 7-0 game. Smith spearheaded a defensive effort that allowed Boston College just 195 yards of total offense as it marked the first time the Eagles had been shut out since 2010.

DEFENSIVE BACK:
Jalen Ramsey, Florida State, Jr., CB, 6-1, 222, Smyrna, Tenn.
Ramsey earns ACC Defensive Back of the Week honors for the second consecutive week. The junior cornerback continued to solidify himself as one of the nation’s top defensive players, leading the charge in FSU’s 14-0 victory at Boston College. Ramsey scored on a 36-yard fumble recovery in the fourth quarter with the Noles clinging to a 7-0 lead and had six tackles, including five solo stops. Ramsey led a pass defense that allowed only five completions on 15 attempts for 56 yards. Ramsey contributed to the Seminoles’ lone interception on the night by blanketing his receiver and enabling safety Lamarcus Brutus to make the pick.

For his performance, Ramsey has also been nominated as a Lott IMPACT Player of the Week candidate.
