Sheriff’s Deputies Apprehend ‘Career Offender’ Armed Burglary Suspect

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Brevard County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 29-year-old Justin Huggins of Cocoa after a foot pursuit and charged him with Carrying a Concealed Firearm, Possession of Firearm by Felon, Armed Burglary, Grand Theft of a Firearm and the Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon.
According to Cpl. Dave Jacobs of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, the incident unfolded Tuesday when Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the area of 5135 US 1 in unincorporated Cocoa, in reference to a report of a man with a gun.
Upon arrival, Deputies saw an individual matching the suspect’s description and Deputy Chaston Williams, along with the help of several citizens, apprehended Huggins after the foot chase.
While running, witnesses saw Huggins throw a firearm, which was recovered by Deputy Williams, according to Cpl. Jacobs.
Sheriff’s Agents later determined the firearm was reported stolen on September 13 during an armed burglary in Port St. John.
Cpl. Jacobs said that Huggins is a convicted felon and is identified as a “Career Offender.”
Huggins was transported to the Brevard County Jail under a no bond status.
