Eastern Florida State Volleyball Upsets Miami Dade On the Road In 5 Sets

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Eastern Florida’s volleyball team recorded something not done in recent years on Tuesday: It beat perennial state and national power Miami Dade College in five sets and on Miami Dade’s home court in Kendall.

The 24-26, 25-21, 16-25, 25-21, 15-10 victory moved Eastern Florida to 9-15 overall and 1-4 in the Florida College System Activities Association Southern Conference.

Miami Dade fell to 8-14 and 2-3. It swept Eastern Florida earlier this season in Melbourne.

Sophomore Mariana Dal Pozzo, the FCSAA/NJCAA Region 8 Player of the Week, had 16 kills for the Titans. Classmate Treasure Ingram had 11 and freshman Malvis Ortiz had nine.

“I am really pleased with our performance today,” said Eastern Florida head coach Andrea Rasmussen.

“We were able to capitalize and finish not only sets but an entire match.”

Eastern Florida hosts conference foe Palm Beach State at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Titan Field House on the Melbourne Campus.
