BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Eastern Florida’s men’s basketball team got 20 points from freshman Joey Martin, 18 from freshman Kareem Brewton and 16 from freshman C.J. Jackson to defeat Atlanta Metro 88-76 in Saturday’s final game of the Eastern Florida Halloween Classic.

The victory at the Titan Field House on the Melbourne Campus moved Eastern Florida to 2-0. It also was the Titans 49th straight home court victory and head coach Jeremy Shulman’s 120th victory at Eastern Florida.

Jackson scored 14 points in the first half to pace the Titans to a 46-33 lead. The lead was comfortable throughout most of the second half before Atlanta Metro cut the advantage to nine points – 83-74- with under two minutes to play.

The Titans will seek to increase the home court winning streak to 50 when they host Red Devil Academy at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Admission is free.

“I’m proud of the effort of our guys,” Shulman said.

“I thought today and yesterday we played with a lot of effort and played really hard but we’ve got a long ways to go. It’s a younger team, a lot of newcomers. We knew there would be big growing pains early. It’s a start.”

As for Martin’s production: “Joey was that next man (off the bench) today,” Shulman said. “He came up huge. I thought he did his team concepts very well and he made some big shots for us.”

Martin, the younger bother of captain and starting guard Jon Martin, took things in stride.
