BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Eastern Florida’s Titusville Campus is hosting the Titans men’s basketball team for a breast cancer awareness rally at 3 p.m. Tuesday.

The rally will be held in the campus gym and will include student shootouts against the team, a backdrop for photos with the players, and an on-site poster contest to motivate the team at games. Provost Dr. Phillip Simpson will judge the contest, and the winner gets to “Pie the Provost!”

“Our aim is to Pink Out the gym with support, and we will have free pink T-shirts and bracelets for participants,” said Brittany Chase, Office of Student Life Specialist on the Titusville Campus.

The event also will host a #TouchedByCancer project, where participants place a pink handprint on a banner if their lives have been impacted by breast cancer.

“This will be a great visual representation of the prevalence of breast cancer in our community,” Chase said. “Educational materials will be available on prevention and early detection. We encourage everyone to come out and get involved as we support our team. Let’s send them off right for their next season of victory.”

Men’s basketball head coach Jeremy Shulman is excited about the event.

“The guys are pumped up about doing their part to raise awareness of breast cancer and to interact with students and fans on the Titusville Campus,” Shulman said.
