Michael James Curtis, 26, of Melbourne was involved in a fiery head-on crash with a yet to be identified female victim who was killed on State Road 528 in Orange County on Wednesday night about 2:20 a.m.

ORANGE COUNTY, FLORIDA – Michael James Curtis, 26, of Melbourne was involved in a fiery head-on crash with a yet to be identified female victim who was killed on State Road 528 in Orange County on Wednesday night about 2:20 a.m.

Curtis, who was wearing a seatbelt, escaped with minor injuries.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, for an unknown reason the unidentified driver was traveling eastbound in a SUV in the westbound lanes of State Road 528.

Curtis, who was driving a 2016 truck, was traveling westbound on State Road 528 in the left lane, and the front of the SUV struck the front of Curtis’ truck head-on.

Both vehicles caught fire, but Curtis escaped from his truck with minor injuries. The unidentified driver and a dog in the SUV died on scene.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, due to the condition of victim and her SUV, Troopers have not yet determined who was driving.

This crash remains under investigation.
