Palm Bay Police Arrest Man For DUI While Riding Motorized Wheelchair

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – Ronny Scott Hicks, 54, was arrested early Tuesday morning and charged by police with driving under the influence for riding in his motorized wheelchair and blocking a bridge in Palm Bay, according to WKMG.

When officers arrived on scene at about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, Hicks had slurred speech, a strong odor of alcohol, was uncooperative and refused to take a Breathalyzer test, according to police. He also refused treatment for an open cut on his forehead.

According to police, Hicks has two prior convictions for DUI.

Hicks is being held on a $5,000 bail at the Brevard County Jail in Sharpes.
