Doctors’ Goodwill Foundation Junior Ambassador Awards To Honor Student Humanitarians In Special Gala Nov. 1

Reeya Shah, a senior at Edgewood Junior/Senior High School, is interested in many things, just like any teenage girl.

But what sets her apart is the number of clubs and volunteer opportunities she devotes her time to in hopes of growing and becoming a doctor.

Besides being a member of BETA club, the Key Club, the National Honor Society and the president of the Health Occupations Students of America, Reeya also finds times to be involved with the Doctor’s Goodwill Foundation.

Oh, and she loves to dance and gets to together with friends to choreograph Indian or Bollywood-style dance numbers. And play the piano.

She became involved with DGF because of her interest in medicine and after her parents encouraged her it was a great place to start. Although she hasn’t been able to take part in any mission at this point, she helps with the group’s spelling bee and speaks about the event to different schools and people throughout the community in an effort to get more people involved.

“The spelling bee is a great experience, it allows kids and adults to learn about different sciences and careers in the medical field,” she said.

TOUCHING PEOPLE’S LIVES GLOBALLY

She hopes to continue to grow as a volunteer with DGF saying that such organizations are extremely important because it helps those who are less fortunate and it gives them a chance at education.
