BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Bob Hoog was elected mayor of Cape Canaveral on Tuesday, defeating Buzz Petsos in a close race.

Hoog received 52.62 percent (792 votes) of the vote, while Petsos finished with 47.38 percent (713 votes).

Hoog has been a resident of Cape Canaveral since 1955, and was a member of the Cape Canaveral City Council and served as Mayor Pro Tem 1986-1989, 2002-2009, 2010-2011 and 2014-present.

Also in Cape Canaveral, Brendan McMillin scored 750 votes en route to being elected to the city council in a close race. McMillin defeated Mike Brown (629 votes), John Price (520 votes), Don Willis (489 votes) and Joshua Surprenant (215 voted)

In Rockledge, Ted Hartselle defeated Carol Laymance by just 36 votes to win city council, seat 6.

In the Barefoot Bay Trustee election, Lee Wright lead the field with 904 votes, followed by Steven Diana with 824 votes, Louise Crouse with 643 votes, and Thomas Guinther with 603 votes.
