Brevard County Teams Compete In International SWAT Round Up This Week

The Melbourne Police Department Special Weapons and Tactics Team, commonly called SWAT, is at the International SWAT Round Up competition in Orlando this week.

This 33rd annual competition is being held at the Orange County Sheriff’s Office Firing Range through Friday.

“They are learning new tactics to effectively solve any situation that our community may face,” said the Melbourne Police Department via Facebook.

“They also are learning new first aid techniques so that your officers can go home to their families at the end of these situations. Please wish them well when they put their skills to the test in the competitive side of this training later this week.”

Other area agencies competing in the 33rd annual International SWAT Round Up includes the Brevard County Sheriff’s Department, Cocoa Police Department, NASA Protective Services and Palm Bay Police Department.
