Chintu Patel, 27, shows up every Wednesday at Parrish Medical Center to help out wherever he can.

Patel, born oxygen-deprived, is a real extrovert who loves people and has never met a stranger, said his mother Malini Patel.

“Parrish is like a whole other family for Chintu,” she said. “If I call when he is sick and can’t work, everyone is so concerned.”

Patel loves the patients and visitors and would like to volunteer more with the Doctor’s Goodwill Foundation (DGF), his mother said.

The young man had a hard time finding a job in the beginning. Working for a while at Wal-Mart and other stores, but none seemed to fit his disabilities.

That’s when Parrish Medical Center and Dr. Bahalini stepped in and offered him a job as an auxiliary member.

“It’s been the best thing that could happen to my son,” Mrs. Patel said. “He can’t wait to get to work.”

She hopes her son will be able to help out at next year’s DGF Health Fair and get more involved with volunteering because he loves people so much.

Patel has developed a real bond with the employees of Parrish, she added.

And, the work and socializing has been very helpful for the young man.

“All you have to do is ask him about his job and his whole face lights up,” his mother said.

As part of Space Coast Medicine Week, honorees will be honored during a Gala dinner on Nov. 1 at the Cocoa Beach Country Club beginning at 5 p.m. For more information about the Doctors’ Goodwill Foundation Junior Ambassadors call 321-323-4460 or 321-615-8111.
