BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Cocoa police detectives are currently investigating a smash and grab burglary at the Radio Shack, located at 2301 Highway 524, in which four suspects forced entry by breaking the front glass door.
According to Yvonne Martinez, Cocoa Police Public Information Officer, the suspects used a landscaping brick to break the door. Once inside they stole 13 display phones valued at approximately $8,000. They also walked out with several boxes with unknown content.
Detectives are reviewing surveillance images from the store. All of the suspects wore gloves and two of the four wore facial coverings and hooded sweatshirts.
“The way the suspects entered the store and went to specific locations it appears they knew exactly what they were doing,” said Detective Mark Rush.
“They bypassed high dollar equipment worth much more than the value of what they took. We do have a good facial image of one of the suspects so we’re hoping to get the public’s help in identifying him.”
Detectives are working with other agencies in Brevard County as there were other similar incidents reported during the same time period of 4-5 a.m. Sunday.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Central Florida CRIMELINE at 1-800-423-TIPS. Callers can remain anonymous and can be eligible for cash rewards of up to $1,000 in this case.
