Drs. MacMillan, Jeong Named Wuesthoff’s 2015 Physicians of the Year

Annual honor recognizes the patient care excellence, compassion and peer leadership demonstrated by physicians affiliated with Wuesthoff Medical Center in Rockledge and Melbourne.
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Wuesthoff Health System has honored two of its physicians for their patient care excellence, compassion, commitment and peer leadership.
Margaret MacMillan, D.O., and Hong Jeong, M.D., are the 2015 recipients of Wuesthoff’s annual Physician of the Year award.
Physicians are nominated by their peers with awards going to a physician affiliated with Wuesthoff Medical Center-Rockledge and a physician affiliated with Wuesthoff Medical Center-Melbourne.
Dr. MacMillan is an internal medicine specialist and is certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine.
She earned a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine. Her internship and residency were both at Northside Hospital in St Petersburg, Forida.
“I’m thankful for this great honor,” said Dr. MacMillan.
“It has truly been a pleasure to work with all of the nursing, medical and support staff.”
Her peers commented on the unwavering commitment she extended to her patients and her depth of knowledge and expertise.
Many described her as a strong leader and a compassionate caregiver who elevated the performance of those around her. Others reflected on her focus and the reassuring presence she extends to patients.
Dr. Jeong is a cardiovascular disease specialist with Viera Heart and Vascular Clinic and has been a member of the medical staff at Wuesthoff Medical Center-Melbourne for nearly four years.
He is certified with the American Board of Internal Medicine in Interventional Cardiology, Cardiovascular Disease, and Internal Medicine.
He also holds board certification in Nuclear Cardiology and Cardiovascular Computer Tomography. Dr. Jeong received his medical education at University of South Florida in Tampa and completed his residency at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA.
During the award ceremony, Dr. Jeong was specifically recognized by his peers and the Wuesthoff healthcare team as being a leader, teacher and someone who could be counted on and trusted.
It was noted that his gentle spirit, combined with his superior clinical skill and knowledge, inspires those he works with and places the most anxious patient at ease.
“This recognition is a great honor,” said Dr. Jeong.
“We all work extremely hard here and it’s a wonderful encouragement to receive such an affirmation as this. Thank you to everyone who worked alongside me during the past year and provided so much support.”
Dr. Jeong performs a variety of hospital and office-based procedures including coronary artery and peripheral vascular procedures, such as angioplasty, atherectomy, and stents.
He also performs implantations of pacemakers, automated implantable cardioverter-defibrillators, transesophageal echocardiograms, cardioversions, and nuclear stress tests.
Dr. Jeong takes particular interest in treatment of venous conditions including treatment of varicose veins and venous insufficiency.
