ESFC Top Seed For NJCAA Women’s Division I Soccer National Championship

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA –The field and seeding are set for the 2015 NJCAA Women’s Division I Soccer National Championship to be held Nov. 16-21 at the Titan Soccer Complex on the Melbourne Campus. 

The Eastern Florida Titans are the number 1 seed in the NJCAA Division I Women’s Championship Tournament.

Host Eastern Florida, 14-0 and the nationally No. 1-ranked team, is the top seed. Tyler Junior College of Texas, 16-3-1, is seeded second and Iowa Central, 15-1, is seeded third. The fourth seed is Butler Community College of Kansas, 19-2.

Eastern Florida is the top seed in Pool A, Tyler in Pool B, Iowa Central in Pool C and Butler in Pool D.

The 12 teams play two pool games each with the four pool winners advancing to Friday’s 5 and 8 p.m. semifinals. The final is 7 p.m. Saturday.

Pool games will be played at 10 a.m. and 12:30, 3 and 5:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday is a day off or a day to be used to play any tie-breakers.

Joining Eastern Florida in Pool A is eighth seed Pima Community College of Arizona, 19-1-2 and 12th seed Spartanburg Methodist of South Carolina, 13-7.

Eastern Florida plays its first game against Spartanburg Methodist at 5:30 p.m. Monday and meets Pima at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Seventh seed and defending national champion Monroe College of New York and 11th seed Moraine Valley of Illinois, 14-1-0, join Tyler in Pool B.

Sixth-seed Lewis & Clark of Illinois, 16-2-2, joins Iowa Central in Pool C along with 10th seed Laramie County of Wyoming, 14-4-2.

Joining Butler in Pool D is fifth seeded Darton State of Georgia, 15-2, and ninth seed Schoolcraft of Michigan, 16-1-0.

Tournament admission prices are: Tournament pass all matches: Adult: $35, students: $15; Individual match admission: adult: $10, students: $7; Children 5 and under, free. College students must present school ID.
Admission is free for Eastern Florida faculty, staff and students with Eastern Florida ID.

All games will be webcast at www.njcaatv.com and the Saturday final also will be telecast live on WEFS-TV and streamed live.

Concessions and restrooms are on site as is parking.

Things get under way on Sunday as the teams are welcomed and hear a keynote speech at 6 p.m. in the King Center for the Performing Arts on the Melbourne Campus. The pre-tournament barbecue dinner and T-shirt exchange follows in the Titan Field House.

Eckerd College (Florida) head coach, former U.S. Women’s National Team member and NCAA Division I all-time leading goal scorer Danielle Fotopoulos will deliver the keynote speech.

Cost for the banquet is $10 per person for players, coaches, team personnel, school officials/administrators and $15 per person for family, friends and additional travelers.
