Florida Tech’s Corbin Jackson Earns Second Consecutive SSC Honor

Corbin Jackson and defensive awards have been synonymous in his three seasons in the Sunshine State Conference. On Monday, the two-time reigning SSC Defensive Player of the Year already picked up his second straight SSC Defensive Player of the Week honor.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Corbin Jackson and defensive awards have been synonymous in his three seasons in the Sunshine State Conference. On Monday, the two-time reigning SSC Defensive Player of the Year already picked up his second straight SSC Defensive Player of the Week honor.

Continuing his impressive start to the year, Jackson averaged 18 points, 12.5 rebounds, four blocks and three steals per game to bring his double-double total to four through the season’s first four games.

The redshirt senior notched 12 of his 17 points, on 6-of-7 from the field, in the second half to lead the Panthers to a 68-61 victory over Tampa, their first in five tries against the Spartans.

Despite suffering a loss three days later to Embry-Riddle, Jackson stuffed the stat sheet with 19 points, 13 rebounds, six blocks and four steals. The Viera High School product converted 8-of-10 from the floor and now ranks among the top-two in the SSC in: field goal percentage, minutes, rebounds and blocked shots.

FIT will return to action immediately after break for the tip-off of its annual Thanksgiving Tournament. The Panthers will welcome Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras on Friday, before the winner of that game takes on the winner of North Greenville and Georgia Southwestern in the tourney finale on Saturday.
