He also spends lots of time working with the local Republican Party, which is important to him because you can help get things done through electing the right public officials.

Thomas is also the co-founder and president of Space Coast Clinicians, a nonprofit educational networking organization with more than 600 members.

“We really need to focus on providing education for the next round of health care workers and that includes physician assistants, nurses and technicians,” Thomas said. “All of the organizations I work with tend to be involved in that effort in some way.”

He is currently getting ready to become part of Angel Flight, the organization that flies ill patients to hospitals throughout the country.

SUPPORTING HEALTH AND MEDICAL EDUCATION

Thomas became involved with the Doctor’s Goodwill Foundation in order to jointly support students in the medical and nursing fields through scholarships and mentoring programs.

He volunteers at DGF events in the hopes of getting a student or teen interested in the medical field: “There are so many different areas to work in, not just as a physician, and I try to spread the word.”

It’s so important for citizens to volunteer and be involved in their communities, but it’s hard to make that happen.

That’s what he hopes to accomplish more of through his Space Coast Clinicians group where they offer speakers and connections to people interested in medicine and through the local Republican Party.

And, hopefully, he says, once they are involved, they will get the volunteer bug and help others too.
