BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – On November 7th and 8th, over 8,000 people gathered in Palm Bay to celebrate victory over the 2015 Palm Bay Tough Mudder Challenge. This weekend, The Compound, located in the Southwestern area of Palm Bay, was home to thousands of visitors, both locals and out-of-staters.

“My favorite part was witnessing the different ways our team members dealt with fears and challenges,” said Emanuel Odies, City of Palm Bay Engineer and Tough Mudder participant.

“It really demonstrated how deep down inside, if you try and have a positive attitude about the task at hand, you will succeed.”

The Tough Mudder challenge requires stamina, brains, teamwork, incredible strength, and the ability to put up with just about anything the environment throws your way. Palm Bay’s event was an intensive 11.2 mile course featuring 19 obstacles.

“The best part of hosting Tough Mudder in Palm Bay is the diversity it brings to the city,” said special guest, Mayor William Capote.

“I witnessed participants of all different ages, sizes and ethnicities gather at the starting line, eager to begin the challenge. This isn’t just a competition, but rather a way to explore personal best. At the event, participants united with a “no one left behind” mindset to push beyond boundaries and overcome obstacles to reach the end.”

Although this was Palm Bay’s first year hosting a Tough Mudder event, it may not be its last.

“While it is not set in stone, we are considering Palm Bay as a destination for the 2016 Tough Mudder Challenge,” said Tina Fekula, Tough Mudder Operations Manager.
