Eastern Florida Basketball Falls To Gulf Coast State 74-61 In Florida JUCO Shootout

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Eastern Florida’s men’s basketball team dropped to 11-2 on the season on Saturday with a 74-61 loss to Gulf Coast State.

The loss came on the first day of the Florida JUCO Shootout at Santa Fe College in Gainesville.

Gulf Coast improved to 10-4.

Freshman and leading scorer Kareem Brewton paced Eastern Florida with 18 points. Classmate Jon Martin added 11 and sophomore B.J. Gladden 9 points and nine rebounds. Eastern Florida led 40-37 at the half but was held to 21 points in the second half.

Gulf Coast was 14-for-31 from the floor in the second half. The Titans were 7-for-28 from the floor in the second half and 0-for-7 from the three-point line.

Eastern Florida wraps up the Shootout and the 2015 portion of its schedule when in plays Polk State College at 5 p.m. Sunday at Santa Fe.

Polk State was 9-4 going into its game against Tallahassee Community College on Saturday.
