‘Battlefield Chef’ Vic Luebker Shares Great Recipes For Sunday’s Big Game

'Battlefield Chef' is food and drink junkie
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – We invite you to join us here at Space Coast Daily for our great new weekly multimedia column, “Space Coast Food and Bars,” authored and produced by retired career military veteran and local culinary expert Vic Luebker, AKA the “Battlefield Chef.”
Vic found his love of food and cooking in Europe in the 1980s when he lived in Germany as part of a 22-year military career and cooking for the troops during the first Gulf war and in Bosnia.
“Since my military career, I have since traveled to more 20 countries enjoying and learning about food, drinks and people!” said the Battlefield Chef.
“I have a profound appreciation for international cuisine, drinks, people and the lifestyle associated with traveling.”
From tofu in Tokyo to waffles in Belgium, or pizza in Rome and Ouzo in Turkey, he has ate, drank and played around the globe. Vic has played poker with Eva, MC’d events for astronauts, met with world leaders and enjoys life with great friends.
The Battlefield Chef will cover the local food and bar scene like only he can while sharing some great reviews, tips, hot food and drink recipes and more. Look for his columns, images and great videos coming soon.
Vic created Food and Bars as a lifestyle blog with the goal to share great eats, drinks, travel and fun events from all over the Space Coast – and beyond!
The focus will be on regional flavors, great local chefs, eateries, nightlife hot spots and cool food and bar events.
The “Battlefield Chef” is a food and drink junkie, world traveler and currently in enrolled in culinary school to become a classically trained chef.

Jalapeno Bacon Grilled Cheese Sandwich: (makes: 2 sandwiches)
• 4 Strips Farmland Hickory Smoked Classic Cut Bacon
• 2 Good sized jalapenos
• 4 Bread slices
• 2 Slices mozzarella, cheddar or pepper jack cheese
Directions: Cook bacon over medium heat for 2-3 minutes. Slice jalapenos in half circles and sauté in left over bacon fat. Butter non-greased side of bread. Sprinkle on jalapenos and bacon. Top with cheese of your choice.
Top with another slice of bread, greased side facing out.
Smokey Sausage Manhattan Ingredients:
• 2 ounces Sausage-Infused Bourbon
• 1 ounces Sweet Vermouth
• 1 dash Angostura Bitters
• 3 Cherries
Directions: In ice filled mixing glass, add all ingredients and stir for at least 30 seconds. Strain into martini glass and garnish with 3 cherries on a pick.
Sausage-Infused Bourbon :
Directions: Cut Johnsonville Fully Cooked Smoked Split Rope Sausage into 1/2-inch slices. In glass jar with tight lid (canning jar is ideal) add sliced brat with 6 ounces of bourbon and let sit for 24-48 hours. Strain through coffee filter into clean container. Discard sliced brats.
