Cocoa Shop Owner Shoots Back At Armed Robbery Suspects, Injures One

At around 8 p.m. Tuesday evening, officers responded to the Chevron gas station at 6 South Cocoa Blvd after the shop owner called to report an armed robbery.

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Cocoa Patrol officers and detectives are currently investigating an armed robbery in which the victim shot at the suspects wounding one and causing a second suspect to flee, according to Cocoa police spokesperson Yvonne Martinez.

At around 8 p.m. Tuesday evening, officers responded to the Chevron gas station at 6 South Cocoa Blvd after the shop owner called to report an armed robbery.

“When officers arrived they found a black male on the ground with a gunshot wound,” said Martinez.

“The owner reported the male was one of two suspects who entered his store and attempted to rob him at gunpoint.”

The victim, who is known to be armed while at his store shot several rounds at the suspect. A second suspect fled in a vehicle which was struck by the gunfire.

The suspect wounded at the scene was flown to the trauma hospital for treatment.

Detectives are currently searching for the second suspect and vehicle and the investigation is ongoing. The identities of the individuals involved are still being verified.
