BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA BEACH FLORIDA – Coastal Breed, one of central Florida’s most talented rising bands, will perform a concert during the Cocoa Beach Seafood and Music Festival on Saturday, February 25 at 2 p.m.
“We play to give people hope and inspiration,” said Guilermo Lopez, the band’s dynamic drummer, who often dances as he plays his drums.
“We love to express ourselves through our music – and playing for packed venues is a rush.”
Coastal Breed is another example of the creative talent that seems to continually spring from the people who live along the Space Coast of Florida. Whether it is the history of innovation and imagination that the Space Coast is known for or a result of the eclectic population, Coastal Breed defies reason and creates great feeling among their audiences.
Matt Hunt: Known for his exciting guitar solos, Hunt’s strong and consistent work ethic is what keep Coastal Breed in motion.
“Matt is the motor that constantly pushes our team to grow,” said Lopez.
Hunt recently celebrated the birth of his first son and often leads the band with his passion and commitment to improving the band’s music and performances.
Austin Lerch: A father of two, Lerch is the face of the band and live entertainment is his true love.
“Austin is one of the most outgoing and funniest people you will ever meet – a must see on stage. His charisma always gets people involved emotionally with our shows” said Lopez.
“His lyrics, positive vibe, and care free, stage commanding dance moves are inspirational.”
Chris Jeffries: Home grown in Melbourne, Florida, Jeffries is a father who shares his love of the ocean, coast and music with his young son.
As the newest member of Coastal Breed, Jeffries has brought a whole new feel to the group and has revamped the style of the band.
Jeffries is a highly talented musician, composing music for the band and blends well with the band’s energy on stage.
WRRJ 89.7 Stage Will Feature Music All Weekend
Local radio station WJRR 89.7FM has taken Cocoa Beach by storm over the past six months and will feature Coastal Breed and more than 20 other musical groups on the WRRJ Stage throughout the three-day festival weekend.
The WRRJ 89.7FM stage will be located inside the Port Canaveral Seafood and Music Festival grounds with the Port Canaveral Exploration Tower and lake as its backdrop.
Guests will be able to sit under the SOAR/BioCellular Therapies dining pavilion to watch the shows or relax on the grass berm in front of the stage
Coastal Breed’s empresario and enigmatic drummer, Guillermo Lopez is a big part of the band’s performance as he dances and inspires the audiences during the band’s gigs.
Much of the band grew up together, forming a house-party band in 2013.
“We would hang out at parties and freestyle music with acoustic guitars,” said Lopez.
“As people started to crowd around to listen, a drum set was introduced into the mix. One of our buddies owned a clothing/bar shop at the time and that is where we started playing shows.
“Our main influences are everyday life, moments in time, accomplishments and hardships – accompanied by the sounds of reggae-rock, hip-hop, and a swatch of roots punk.”
Coastal Breed is a one of a kind. When they play it seems natural and free – like they are not playing for the crowd but rather playing with the audience.
“We like our gigs to be like a party with instruments and a stage,” says Lopez.
“One of the most special moments we have shared as a band is when a fan came up to us after hearing our music on the radio. She said she had just lost her grandfather and our song “Stay” helped her get over the hard time she was feeling. It meant a lot to be part of something that actually had a positive impact on someone.”.
