Melbourne Fire Department Celebrates 100 Years With Centennial Celebration 2016

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Melbourne Fire Department has been protecting the community since 1916 and will hold a celebration on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Station 74, located at 1500 S. Hickory Street in Melbourne.
First established as the volunteer fire department of two small towns (Eau Gallie and Melbourne), the Melbourne Fire Department has grown over the years to become a full-service professional department it is today, meeting the needs of a city more than 44 square miles in size with more than 77,000 residents.
Come get to know your fire department and celebrate the 100th year of service to the City of Melbourne as. Tour Station 74, check out fire engines and rescue vehicles and watch demonstrations –including First Flight, vehicle extrication and rope rescue.
On Display will be the Sutphen Tower, Sutphen Engine, SQ74, Crash Truck, Command Trailer, Rehab Traler, Truck 76, Marine 70, Fire Prevention, Training Manikin, Engine 35, Gator and Air Trailer.
Schedule of Demonstrations:
• Vehicle Extraction: 1 p.m.
• Rope Rescue: 2 p.m.
• Smoke Trailer: 12 noon – 3 p.m.
• First Flight: Between 1 p.m. – 2:30 p.m., depending on calls
• Station Tours: 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Kids attractions includes a bounce house, 18-foot tnflatable slide, Engine for kids to spray water and the Chick-fil-a Cow.
Food, drinks and commemorative Melbourne Fire Department Centennial t-shirts will be for sale (cash only).
Parking: Attendees may use the parking lots at Our Lady Lourdes, the Liberty Bell Memorial Museum or in the hospital parking lot across the street.
