BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – On February 24, the Melbourne Police Department became an accredited police department by the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation.

This monumental accomplishment could not have been achieved without a commitment to excellence by every employee of the Department.

The Melbourne Police Department had to comply with over 200 standards issued by the Commission.

These standards are developed by the Commission to ensure the police department is able to meet every need of the community.

It also allows the police department to be judged by other police agencies and entities in the State of Florida to ensure that our work is among the best.

For the lengthy process the Commission sent a group of evaluators to the police department to look over all our policies and procedures and to ensure the day to day efforts were actually in compliance with the agreed upon standards.
