Titusville Boy Receives New Bike By Police After Traffic Crash Last Week

BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – The child who was injured last week in a traffic crash in Titusville received a new bike and safety helmet courtesy of the Titusville Police Athletic League and the Titusville Police Department.

Dayshaun, 8, was riding his bike Thursday, February 25 at around 6 p.m. and was struck by a van at the intersection of Alpine Lane and Delespine Avenue.

He was airlifted to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Dayshaun was released from the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery, however, Dayshaun’s bicycle suffered extensive damage.

On Saturday morning February 27th 2016 Chief John Lau and Titusville City Manager, Scott Larese, presented a very surprised Dayshaun with a new bicycle and safety helmet at the boy’s home in Titusville.

The bicycle was gifted to Dayshaun by the Titusville Police Athletic League. His new safety helmet was donated by the Titusville Police Department.

“It was terrific to see that Dayshaun is recuperating nicely and heartwarming to see his family surrounding him”, said Chief Lau.

“He is a remarkable young man”, added Lau.
